Dr. Tara Farmer

Dr. Tara Farmer attended Louisiana State University where she earned her Bachelor Degree in Animal, Dairy & Poultry Science in 2000. She then graduated from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003 with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation, she worked as a small animal veterinarian in Houma, Louisiana for several years. She welcomed the opportunity to come back “home” to Baton Rouge and joined the team at Azalea Lakes Veterinary Clinic in February of 2010. Her main focus is small animal internal medicine and preventative medicine.

Dr. Tara and her husband, Rob, have two children, a daughter and a son. She has a wonderful St. Bernard mix named Emma who she adopted as a puppy that came in through Azalea Lakes Veterinary Clinic. In her down time, she enjoys reading, photography, and gardening.

Dr. Tara's favorite part about working at Azalea Lakes Veterinary Clinic is, “When clients proudly show off their pet’s tricks in the exam room. It is just an outward expression of that human-animal bond we all have with our pets. It’s the reason I love my job, and every day I get to help continue that bond by keeping their pets healthy.”

  • “LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Azalea Lakes. It was recommended to me by a friend and I've been a client/"family member" for the past 8ish years. They love their clients, their staff, and their animals. I live on the other side of town and I will happily make the drive to get there because of how they treat me and have treated all of my animals.”

    Cora B.
  • “Izzy is our new puppy. She loves doctor Gretchen! We've been taking the cats there for 15 years. Now we'll be taking the dog for 15 more. There is no other staff I would trust with my animal children.”

    Jamie S.
  • “They care about animals & owners, it is why they do everything they do & it shows!”

    Mike D.
  • “I love these doctors!! I wish I had known about them years ago. I have a very difficult 20 pound cat that was usually a terror at the vet but the first time I brought her in to Dr. Susie she was very calm and just lay there while Dr. Susie checked her out. I have a rescued Persian cat and a teacup poodle that have seen each of the doctors at Azalea and they love all of the ladies. The office staff is awesome, also. I would highly recommend Azalea Lakes to anyone.

    Carol C.

    Shasta F.
  • “Caring, helpful and affordable! Brought my puppy to get treated for heart worms, neutered and had a great experience! They help to keep my puppy healthy! I will continue to use them in the future! Recommended Vet Clinic!”
