Veterinary dental care is an important piece of your dog or cat’s preventive health care. Most of the time brushing your pet’s teeth is not enough to maintain proper dental hygiene. If a pet’s mouth is left untreated, it can lead to dental and systemic diseases. It is estimated that more than 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats develop tooth and gum disease by the time they are three years old. If the bacterium from oral disease enters the bloodstream, it can greatly damage your pet’s kidneys, heart or liver.
Azalea Lakes Veterinary Clinic offers Dental Prophylaxis for our patients. A routine Dental Prophylaxis includes:
- • Oral Exam under Anesthesia
- • Supra and Sub gingival Scaling
- • Polishing
In some cases, an oral exam or digital radiographs can reveal that some of your pet’s teeth need to be extracted. All extractions are done under anesthesia, and pain management is always addressed before, during, and after all procedures.
We also offer many products that assist with maintaining your pet’s oral health in between dental visits. Ask us about our at home dental products today!
